…for a new short film project developed by Basharat Khan and GRAMNet.
Film Assistant Editor / Assistant Project Coordinator
1 or 2 days a week
Project start date: 23rd November 2015
Project end date: 11 May 2016 (film screening in CCA)
Short film: Fragments of Gaza
Running time: approx 10mins
A new narrative is emerging from Gaza through film making and new technology which transcends the physical boundaries of the siege. This collection of mobile clips, videos, and stories, filmed by the people of Gaza, portrays multiple threads of everyday life and brings together image and sound that otherwise disappear from fleeting social media. Public and private, exceptional and mundane, these glimpses of Gaza are constructed together to discover those narratives. These fragments tell only a partial story of a place constricted in size but boundless in inspiration.
This project will collaborate with students from the Islamic University of Gaza.
The short film will be screened as part of the GRAMNet/BEMIS film series in CCA May 2016 to commemorate the Nakba. To help us take this project further we are looking for a small but dedicated team who are able to commit 1-2 days a week, working alongside Director Basharat Khan.
This position is not paid but successful applicant/s will receive a video-editing training package including: video and sound editing training using Adobe Premier Pro, and packing digital content for screening and online purposes. Throughout the project you will be collaborating with local and international partners in the making of this film. Training will be provided on this project, however some experience and knowledge of crowd funding, social media, and creative common licenses is desirable. Great communication skills and ability to take initiative is key.
